Chapter 12:

Home Sweet Home

Once Diamond arrived at the Greyhound station in Atlanta she knew that she had to place Dezzy somewhere in her memory bank with the good memories, which there hadn’t been many of. She knew that he was just a once in a lifetime opportunity on the go. As she gathered her thoughts she exited the bus and called for a cab giving the driver directions to her condo downtown. When she got to her condo, she felt relieved of her past, she knew that she was off to a new beginning.

Upon entering her domain, she closed the door behind her, dropped her things and prepared for a shower. As diamond undressed she examined her body in the full length mirror and thought of how life would be much easier once she started college and escaped the once extreme, chaotic lifestyle she’d experienced. Before entering the steaming shower that was awaiting her, she said a silent prayer asking God to keep Dezzy safe. After she got out of the shower she prepared herself a home cooked meal that consisted of fried chicken with yellow rice and a roll to compliment the collaboration of foods. Diamond sat back on her sofa and turned on her 72 inch floor model flat screen TV and began to watch an episode of “In Living Color.” Diamond was truly enjoying herself for the first time in a long time, eating and laughing at the hilarious TV show. In the midst of her enjoyment she heard the phone ring. “Hello?” Diamond answered.

“Hey, may I speak with Diamond, please?” A female voice asked.

“Yes, this is she. How may I help you?”

“Um, my name’s Tonya, and I was calling in regards to the application that you filled out at our club Onyx. I was wondering when would be a convenient time for you to come in for an interview.”

Diamond had gone to apply at another club upon leaving for bike week. She didn’t want to be around anyone that would keep reminding her of who she was and what she’s capable of. Diamond knew that getting hired at the club would be a definite, she knew that she had the body of a goddess that every bitch could dream of. The way she would make her ass jiggle and clap would make any nigga slap their momma. What she had to offer was worth seeing and paying for.

“Um, how flattering, Tonya, I’m so thankful to be given this opportunity. Would Friday be good?” Diamond responded.

“No, that’ll be great, Diamond. We’ll be expecting you. Take care and be safe.”

“You too, ma’am.” Diamond said before hanging up.
